The Board of Education is in charge of planning, guiding, and evaluating the educational programs of First Church pertaining to children, youth and adults. It performs a similar function for the children and youth of the congregation in a manner consistent with the role and mission of the congregation.
The Board of Education insures that there is qualified leadership for the Sunday Church School and Adult Educational offering for the congregation in addition to any educational programs offered by the congregation. It compiles and submits an annual budget to the Finance Committee and oversee all expenditures of monies from that budget.
This board is very dependent from the help of many volunteers to make all programming successful. Teachers are needed for church school, leaders and helper for the three youth groups, and volunteers who make the library an important asset for the congregation. Anyone interested in volunteering for any of these areas should contact one of the Board members or Church office at any time.
Membership of this board consists of three members elected at large by the congregation for a three year term. Other members are appointed to represent the different areas responsible to this board (church school, youth fellowships, library, and a parent representative). The Chairperson of the Board is elected from its members and is a member of Church Council.
